This was painted on Minnesota's first hot day... it hit 97! We were painting at the rose gardens by Lake Calhoun. The lilacs were blooming and the fountains were open and functioning. Everyone was just taking the beautiful day all in... after a cold long winter.
Wow, this is fabulous and the lilacs were out. I remember that day and wish I had been with you. Emmy

This is Molly modeling for us outside on a beautiful day in Minnesota. She is so cute with her pink flip flops that I had to name the painting after her shoes. This is the first of a series of summer paintings that I will be producing. The series will be of figures and functions of the summer....

Yesterday, my fellow artist Susan brought her grand daughter Molly over to my studio so we could have her model for us. We have wonderful lilac bushes in bloom and I wanted to use them in my piece with Molly. Can't wait to be able to paint Molly again! We had so much fun painting from life!

This was an unfinished painting that I painted over. I just wanted to be loose and not to worry about it. I like it's feel and it was fun to paint just in time for all of the mothers in the world!
